Sapphire: September’s Stone of Wisdom, Devotion, and Inner Clarity
Sapphire is a gemstone of royalty, intuition, and truth. It is a beacon of wisdom that has captivated cultures for millennia. While most know it for its deep, celestial blues, Sapphire exists in a rainbow of colors, each offering a unique vibration and healing frequency. At LOVE SARO, Sapphire holds a deeply personal place in our hearts and our story. It’s not just the birthstone of September, it’s my own birthstone, my husband's, my son's, my sister-in-law's, and Karly's, a core member of our team who feels like family. Needless to say, we’re surrounded by Sapphire energy, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
A Personal Connection: Wisdom I Can Wear
For years, Sapphire felt like home. I wore a stunning star Sapphire as my wedding ring-- a rare, silky blue stone gifted to me by my mother (also my co-founder if you're new here!), and one of the most meaningful pieces I own. These days, I wear it selectively--when I’m seeking clarity, when I need to tune inward, when I want to more efficiently access deeper truth. For me, wearing Sapphire feels almost medicinal. It quiets the noise, sharpens the mind, and restores a kind of inner sovereignty that’s hard to explain, but undeniable when it arrives.

A Spectrum of Sapphires
Although deep blue Sapphires are the most recognized (and often most valuable), this stone actually comes in every color except red (which would be classified as Ruby). In our studios, we love working with a full palette of Sapphires--letting their colors inform the stories we tell through custom jewelry.
- Blue Sapphire: The classic. Worn for mental clarity, protection, and deep inner wisdom.
- White Sapphire: Used to access higher realms and spiritual consciousness-- perfect for dreamers and seekers.
- Pink Sapphire: Connects to the heart. We use this often for love, compassion, and emotional healing. Wisdom through gratitude.
- Yellow Sapphire: A bright light for personal power and prosperity. Associated with confidence and abundance, much like our semi-precious favorite, Citrine.
- Green, Orange, and Violet Sapphires: Each holds its own energetic tone and healing purpose. We’ll often source them intentionally when working on custom projects that call for something specific and rare.
In Ayurvedic gemstone healing, Sapphires are powerful stones used to balance planetary influences and open energetic pathways. Each color is associated with a different planet and chakra offering access to transformation, clarity, and aligned action.
Why Sapphire Is So Empowering to Wear
Sapphire is known as the Stone of Wisdom for a reason. It’s associated with deep truth, loyalty, spiritual insight, and mental focus. In moments when the world feels chaotic or your path feels unclear, Sapphire helps clear the fog bringing discernment, self-trust, and an unshakable connection to your own truth.
It’s also a durable choice for permanent wear: second only to diamond in hardness (9 on the Mohs scale), Sapphire is an excellent choice for everyday pieces that carry deep meaning and can be passed on for generations.
5 Fascinating Facts About Sapphire
- Sapphires have been treasured for over 2,500 years. From ancient Persian royalty to Medieval clergy, they’ve long symbolized divine favor and protection.
- The Star Sapphire effect (asterism) is caused by rutile inclusions and creates a glowing six-pointed star that moves across the stone.
- The rarest color of Sapphire is Padparadscha, a pink-orange hue named after the lotus blossom. It’s one of the most valuable gemstones in the world.
- Sapphire is the second hardest natural gemstone, making it ideal for heirloom and permanent jewelry.
- Blue Sapphires were believed to protect against envy and harm. They were worn by royalty and warriors for strength and truth.
A Family of Wisdom
In our family, Sapphire season is a celebration. My birthday, my husband’s, my son’s, my sister-in-law’s, and Karly’s all fall within days of each other, which means we’re fully immersed in the frequency of truth, devotion, and clarity this time of year.
We love helping clients create custom pieces with Sapphire, not just in blue, but in the full range of colors, each one selected for its energetic resonance and intention. Whether you’re celebrating a September birthday, seeking a tool for clarity, or just drawn to the beauty of this sacred stone, we’d love to help you create something meaningful.
Let’s design your next chapter in Sapphire.
