What is Numerology and Why Do We Love It?
Numerology is the study of the energetic relationship between numbers and the world around us. It’s rooted in the belief that numbers carry vibrational signatures that connect us to dates, times, places, other people, and even the objects we wear. For us, numerology becomes a way to give deeper context and intention to our jewelry; to literally wear a vibration or reminder that aligns with your life path, your goals, your relationships, and your soul purpose.
The First Step: Your Life Path Number
At the heart of numerology is the Life Path Number, which is calculated from your full birth date and acts much like the Sun sign in astrology: it gives the foundational flavor of who you are, your challenges, your gifts, and how you move through life. BUT, and this is important, just like astrology has many moving parts and pieces to it, numerology has more than just the Life Path Number. In a full chart reading, we also consider the Spirit (or Soul) number, the Destiny number, the Attitude (or Personality) number. These are calculated using your full name at birth and your birth date. Each of these additional numbers gives nuance, depth, and shading to the story of your numbers and how they play together.
How to Calculate Your Life Path Number
Here’s a simple way to begin:
1. Write your full birth date (e.g., June 14 1985 would be 6/14/1985)
2. Add each of the numbers together: 6 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 5 = 34
3. Then reduce to a single digit by adding 3 + 4 = 7
→ So your Life Path number = 7
As you explore deeper, you’d also calculate your Spirit, Destiny and other numbers
Basic Meanings for Numbers 1–9 (and Master Numbers)
Here’s a quick overview of the core single-digit numbers and what they represent:
1 — The Leader. A pioneer. Independent and bold.
2 — The Diplomat. Harmonizer. Partnership-oriented.
3 — The Creator. Expressive, joyful, communicative.
4 — The Builder. Practical, structured, grounded.
5 — The Adventurer. Freedom-loving, dynamic, change-embracing.
6 — The Nurturer. Caring, responsible, community-oriented.
7 — The Thinker. Reflective, introspective, spiritually-oriented.
8 — The Powerhouse. Material realm achiever, authority, ambition.
9 — The Humanitarian. Wisdom, compassion, wide-vision, completion.
And then there are the Master Numbers:
11 (viewed as an enhanced 2) — heightened sensitivity, intuitive awareness, connection to the unseen.
22 (viewed as an enhanced 4) — master builder energy, a capacity to turn dreams into reality on a large scale.
Think of them as energies with greater amplitude, a kind of amplified vibration of the base number.
How We Use Numerology in Custom Jewelry Design
Here’s where we get really fun and intentional: we integrate numerology into our custom, permanent (or clasped) fine jewelry in tactile, wearable ways so you’re not just told your number, you live it on your wrist or neck or ankle.
Counting Links as Vibrational Reminders
For example, I wear a mixed-metal heavy curb bracelet where the solid gold links are counted intentionally within a sterling silver base chain: 11 gold links (enhanced sensitivity, connection) and separately 3 gold links (my personal Life Path number = 3, expressive, creative, authentic).
Since creating this piece several years ago, these links have become physical touch-points, reminders of the vibration I wish to embody.
You can choose your number(s) and ask us to integrate that count into the chain. Or if you prefer engraving, we can engrave the number(s) (or dates) that reflect your numerological chart.
